Privacy Policy for the Little Light game
The short version: the Little Light game does not collect, store on our servers, or share any personal information. It has no ads, no analytics, no tracking, no accounts and no chat. Your child's progress stays on your device. If you email us, we use your message only to help you.
1. Who we are
Little Light is made by [Developer legal name], an independent developer based in Indonesia ("we", "us"). We are responsible for this game and for any personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at customers-support@littlesaltandlight.com or by post at [Postal address].
2. What the game collects
Nothing personal. The game does not ask for, collect, or send us any personal information: no names, email addresses, photos, voice recordings, location, contacts, device identifiers or advertising IDs. It does not need an account or sign-in, and it does not send your child's play or progress to us or to anyone else.
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Personal information collected by the game | None |
| Data shared with other companies | None |
| Ads or ad SDKs | None |
| Analytics or tracking | None |
| Accounts, chat, social features | None |
| In-app purchases | None (one upfront purchase) |
3. What stays on your device
To let your child pick up where they left off, the game saves a small amount of information only on your device, in the game's private storage. This includes:
- story progress, collected items and rewards;
- Faith Journal entries and settings such as sound, read-aloud and text size;
- profile choices such as the chosen character and any nickname typed in. We suggest using a nickname rather than a real full name.
This information never leaves the device. We can't see it, and we can't recover it for you if it is lost. Your device's own backup service (for example Android backup with your Google account) may include app data; that is controlled by your device settings and that provider's privacy policy, not by us.
4. Device permissions
The game does not request access to the camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos or advertising ID, and it does not need the internet to play. [To confirm before launch: the release build has no internet, microphone, location or AD_ID permission]
5. Ads, purchases and third parties
- No ads. The game shows no advertising of any kind and contains no ad SDKs.
- No analytics or tracking. We do not use analytics, attribution or crash-reporting SDKs in the game. The game is built with the open-source Godot Engine, which does not send data to anyone.
- Purchases. Little Light is a single upfront purchase made through Google Play (or the Apple App Store, if available). The store handles payment under its own privacy policy, and is usually used by a parent's account. We never receive card details. The store gives us sales reports (such as an order number, country, date and price), which we use only for accounting, refunds and tax.
- Store diagnostics. If you have chosen to share usage and diagnostics with Google or Apple in your device settings, the store may give us aggregated, de-identified statistics about crashes and performance. We use these only to fix problems. You control this in your device settings.
- Links out of the game. Any link that leaves the game (for example to this page or to email us) is in the grown-ups area, behind a parental gate.
6. Children's privacy
Little Light is designed for children [ages 5–8, to confirm] and the parents, guardians and teachers who play with them. We have designed it to meet children's privacy rules, including the US Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code (Children's Code), Indonesia's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 27 of 2022), and the Google Play Families Policies.
- We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the game collects nothing, we don't need to ask for parental consent to collect data. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask for a parent's verifiable consent before anything is collected.
- Private by default. There is nothing to switch off: no profiling, no behavioural advertising, no location, no sharing, and no public or social features.
- No pressure. No prompts to buy anything, no rewards for watching ads, and no fail states that shame a child or lock their progress.
- If a child contacts us. If we learn we have received personal information from a child (for example, a child sends us an email), we will delete it promptly and, if a reply is needed, reply only to a parent or guardian.
7. When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you write. We use this only to answer you and to keep a record of support requests. Our legal reason (where the GDPR applies) is our legitimate interest in answering your questions, or taking steps you asked for. Under Indonesian law, we process it to fulfil your request. We keep support emails for up to 2 years after the conversation ends, then delete them, unless the law requires us to keep them longer (for example, refund or tax records).
Messages to our address pass through Cloudflare Email Routing and are stored in our email inbox ([Inbox provider, e.g. Gmail, to confirm]). We don't sell or share your messages, and we don't add you to any mailing list unless you ask.
8. Your rights and parents' rights
Because the game holds no personal information on our side, most requests can be handled directly on your device (see Deleting data). For anything we do hold, such as your emails to us, you can ask us to:
- tell you what we have and give you a copy;
- correct it or complete it;
- delete it, or stop or limit using it;
- withdraw any consent you gave;
- object to how we use it, or receive it in a portable format.
Parents and guardians can, at any time, ask to review or delete any personal information about their child and refuse any further collection or use. We will ask for enough information to confirm you are the parent or guardian, and nothing more.
Write to customers-support@littlesaltandlight.com. We aim to reply within 3 working days and to complete requests within the time limits set by applicable law. This service is free.
If you are not happy with our answer, you can complain to your data protection authority: for example, the authority responsible for personal data protection in Indonesia, your EU country's supervisory authority, the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), or, in the US, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
9. Deleting data
- Game progress: uninstalling the game deletes all of its data from the device. You can also clear it in your device's settings (Settings › Apps › Little Light › Storage › Clear storage). [If the grown-ups area has a Reset progress option, mention it here]
- Emails you sent us: ask us at customers-support@littlesaltandlight.com and we will delete them, except anything we must keep by law.
- Purchase records: these are held by Google or Apple. Use their account and privacy tools.
More detail is on our support page.
10. Security and where data is handled
Keeping data on the device, and collecting nothing, is the best protection we can offer. For support emails, we use reputable providers with encryption in transit and keep access limited to the people who answer support. We are based in Indonesia, and our email providers may process messages in other countries, under their own safeguards for international transfers.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above and, for important changes, explain them in the game's grown-ups area and in the store listing. We will never start collecting personal information from children, or add features such as a microphone, cloud saves, accounts or analytics, without first updating this policy, updating our store disclosures, and, where the law requires it, getting a parent's verifiable consent.
